Lifetime Membership

A current financial member or a life member may nominate in writing and in confidence to the Executive, a person for Life Membership. Other members may support the nomination. Nominations should include the reasons for putting forward the candidate. Nominations should be received three months prior to a suitable occasion for presenting the honour. However timeframes can be altered under special circumstances.

The Executive will consider the nominated person by applying consistent and transparent criteria. They will undertake any research necessary to determine the merit of the nomination.

The following criteria will be considered.
• Has been actively involved with association and / or the industry for at least 10 years.
• Official positions held and the length of service in each position.
• Any significant achievements or contributions to the association and or the industry.
• Contribution and achievements compared to existing Life Members.
• Be of good character.
• Be held in high regard by members.

Guidelines for ATA NZ Lifetime Membership
Purpose: Introduced in 2012, Lifetime Membership may be awarded to individuals for significant and sustained contributions to ATA NZ AND the Advanced Textiles Industry of New Zealand in general.
1. The number of Life Members is limited to no more than 10% of the current subscribing members.
2. Life membership will have a high threshold. The facility to award Life Membership was only introduced in 2012.
3. The decision to award Life Membership requires approval by a minimum of 80% of the Executive. Ideally the decision should be unanimous.
4. Life Membership may be cancelled by the Association if, in the opinion of at least 75% of Members present and entitled to vote at an annual general or special meeting, the person is judged as being no longer fit to retain the honour of Life Membership. The principles of natural justice shall apply to any such cancellation.
